Happy Year Quotes. Germany’s annual inflation rate down to 1.1 percent in December, preliminary figures show

9:02 AM EST, December 30, 2008 BERLIN (AP) – Germany’s annual inflation rate sank to 1.1 percent in December as oil prices continued to slide, according to preliminary data released Tuesday. The year-on-year increase in consumer prices compared with a 1.4 percent rise in November.

The rate has been sliding since it peaked at 3.3 percent in June and July. The Federal Statistical Office said this year’s rise and fall in prices was caused by spiking and then sinking prices of oil and energy, as well as some foods. It estimated that Germany’s annual inflation rate averaged 2.6 percent over the whole of 2008 – the highest level since it hit 2.8 percent in 1994.

Veruschka. ‘Duchess of Carnegie’ Refuses to Leave

Rent Control tenants are protected by law. They can’t put her out on the street as long as she is paying the legal rent. They aren’t being “nice” by moving her to a comparable apartment or buying her out, they’re legally obligated to do so.And to Meijigeorg:THERE ARE NO PROJECTS ON AVE A or free parking lots! I know, I live on A. I think you’re referring to rental complexes like Stuyvesant Town and some co-op complexes around the FDR & Grand.

These places are not government owned projects, don’t receive tax dollars, and you have to pay for a parking space. There ARE projects on Ave D and I don’t think you’ll see too many fancy cars there.”just like the projects .they get free parking for the BMW, SUV’s and other 40,000.oo plus dollar cars. just check out the ones on AVE A. and lower East Side. they all have parking. look at the cars.”.

Vanessa Hudgens Scandal. Scarlett Johansson & Rihanna Included In Maxim

Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively, Katy Perry, Hayden Panettiere, Vanessa Hudgens, and the rest of Tinseltown’s most tempting new talent get top billing as the list of Maxim’s Young Hot Hollywood 2009 unveiled. Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively and “House’s” Oliva Wilde are among the stars that Maxim named to their Young Hot Hollywood 2009 list. The men’s magazine recognized eight beauties in their January 2009 issue, who they believe “will be leading Hollywood’s new guard of A-list icons.” Scarlett Johansson, who recently tied the knot and her new film is “The Spirit” set to hit theaters, made the list (which did not rank the women specifically) for defining “womanly perfection,” thanks to her voice, her curves and her acting prowess.

“Gossip Girl’s” Blake Lively made the list for not only playing Serena van der Woodsen, but for simply being what Maxim called “flawless.” Vanessa Hudgens’ nude photo scandal of 2007, was the main reason Maxim claims they now know about the “High School Musical” franchise. But after recognizing her work, Vanessa further captured the mag’s attention due to her mixed cultural heritage, which Maxim wrote makes her “tastier than ‘International Day’ in the Maxim cafeteria.” Katy Perry’s voice, image and “lesploitation pop,” as the magazine called it, are just a few of the reasons the “I Kissed A Girl” singer made Maxim’s list.

Dave Thomas Foundation. Celebrities share adoption stories for TV special

LOS ANGELES-Jamie Foxx, Faith Hill and Keyshia Cole hope to help children find homes for the holidays. Speaking backstage last month after filming their appearances for the CBS special “A Home for the Holidays,” Foxx, Hill and Cole shared how they coped with being adopted and why they performed for the show, which offers a mix of musical entertainment and information about child adoption. “I was lucky,” said the Oscar-winning Foxx (“Ray”). “I was adopted at 7 months, but the lady who adopted me also adopted my mother, so I had a relationship with my biological parents, also.

” Country superstar Hill was also adopted as an infant, but after hitting adolescence had to fight off the adoption stigma. “When kids would call one another names, they’d say, ‘You act like you’re adopted.’ And I’d always get ‘em good, because I’d say, ‘Well, I am adopted. So what do you think about that?’ ” she said.

Ariens takes invention to market

“I was very surprised to hear about it. It’s a nice accessory and one of those things when we look at it, you have to say, ‘Why didn’t we think of that?’” said Ariens, president of Ariens Co., a maker of outdoor commercial and residential power equipment. Ariens is referring to the invention of Sam Hipple, 13, and Matt Moran, 12, both of Davenport, Iowa.

The boys, by combining a handheld fertilizer spreader, a bicycle brake handle and a couple of other odds and ends, created what they dubbed the “Mega Melter,” a salt-spreading attachment. Ariens heard about the invention, which was entered in the 2007 Invent Iowa competition. He was especially interested in the accessory because the boys attached their device to Sam Hipple’s parents’ Ariens brand snow thrower. Last month, Ariens Co. announced it had inked a deal with the boys to produce and distribute their invention.
