HP teams with Google, Fandango for Web

Typical. I FINALLY pull the trigger on a new printer and boom! This happens. ‘Course, this is also more than *twice* what my bran-spankin’-new Canon AIO will cost, and the idea of easily printing out web content is a dubious one at best.

Wasn’t two weeks ago when, after locking down some movie tickets on Fandango, I *almost* went to print them, but then I read the fine print. Turns out I could just bring my credit card to the theater, jam it in one of many automated ticket machines and pop out my tickets on THEIR dime, not mine! Kinda kills all the cool (if there ever was any) in “printing your own tickets,” huh? Might as well get SOME convenience/savings for the effin’ service charge!

Bermuda Triangle. Search for wreckage begins after Air France Airbus vanishes

Dr Walls was a member of the Riverdance troupe and performed on Broadway before beginning six years of medical studies at Trinity College Dublin. While studying, she continued dancing as part of Riverdance’s “flying squad”, performing in China, Qatar, Germany and France. French ministers initially ruled out sabotage or hijacking and said that Air France’s worst disaster had probably been caused by lightning, but that it was too early to draw conclusions. Air France said that Flight 447, with a crew of 12, vanished after flying into a line of severe tropical storms at about 2am GMT.

Among the missing was the Latin American chief of the Michelin tyre group. The airline said that the area of the likely crash had been narrowed down to a few dozen square miles midway between Brazil and northwest Africa. Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, the airline’s chief executive, said that the jet’s automated link had sent out a “succession of a dozen technical messages. indicating that several systems had broken down. indicating a completely unheard-of situation”.

Katy. The unexpected rise of ‘American Idol’ winner Kris Allen had truly humble beginnings

“You know, there’s probably people who are better than me,” was his response, a humility that Simon Cowell said he found off-putting. “Idol” producers must have agreed. Back in February, viewers had seen less of Allen out of all the crooners that moved forward in the competition. During Hollywood Week, neither of Allen’s solos were aired, just his “I Want You Back” group performance. In fact, more footage from his original audition was aired during Wednesday’s eighth season finale than in any previous episodes.

Once selected as a finalist, Allen got off to a rocky start after his first performance. The judges were decidedly mixed over his rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror,” yet his charming nice-guy demeanor quickly emerged when it was revealed that the longtime Jackson fan had been helping the other singers – his competitors of all people! – tackle their takes on the King of Pop. Allen himself seemed the most surprised about his shocking win by a margin of votes that, unlike last season’s landslide victory by David Cook over David Archuleta, was not publicly declared by host Ryan Seacrest.

Skylar Deleon. Tied to an anchor and thrown to their deaths

A judge has sentenced a man to death for murdering an Arizona couple by tying them to an anchor and throwing them overboard from their yacht off Southern California. Orange County Superior Court judge Frank Fasel on Friday imposed the sentence recommended by the jury that convicted 29-year old Skylar Deleon of killing Tom and Jackie Hawks of Arizona. “It is the judgment and order of this court you shall suffer the death penalty as to each count,” Fasel said. Prosecutors said the Long Beach man feigned interest in buying the couple’s nearly $US500,000 (about $A710,000) yacht and killed them during a test cruise out of Newport Harbour in 2004. The Hawkses’ bodies were never found.

DeLeon was also convicted in the 2003 killing of Jon Jarvi, an Anaheim man he met on a work furlough program. The judge denied an automatic motion seeking reconsideration of the jury’s death recommendation and imposition of a life term. “The horrors of these three murders themselves are more aggravated when considering, in addition to what the court has already considered, the mental anguish all three of these people must have experienced,” Fasel said. “I find the aggravating circumstances are so substantial in comparison to the mitigating circumstances that it warrants death instead of life without the possibility of parole.

Reba Mcentire. This year, top new artist was also decided by fans.

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Like Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire has won entertainer of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, but she says it’s harder for women to get the top trophies in this industry. “It’s always been that way,” said McEntire, who won entertainer of the year for 1994 and hosted Sunday’s show for the 11th time. “Women just have to work harder to stay in the running with the guys,” McEntire said before the show. “It’s always been that way and the women always overachieve, in my opinion.” McEntire said she was proud of Underwood, a former “American Idol” champ, who won entertainer of the year this year; it’s the ACM’s highest honor.

Only six female acts had won the award in the show’s 39 years, most recently the Dixie Chicks for 2000. The other women winners include McEntire and Loretta Lynn (1975), Dolly Parton (1977), Barbara Mandrell (1980) and Shania Twain (1999). “You’ll watch women - their shows – they’re more theatrical. They change clothes, they’re putting on the best show they possibly can,” McEntire said.

Ashley Biden Scandal: VP’s Daughter Allegedly Doing Cocaine In Videotape Hawked By Friend, Reports NY Post

When is Huffington Post going to post the Update to this story about the lawyer QUITING & Backing Out from representing the guy with the alleged video? “Thomas Dunlap made an abrupt about-face, saying Sunday he no longer represents the “friend” of Ashley Biden who claims to have filmed her taking drugs at a recent party, reports RadarOnline.com. It was a stunning change of heart for the 36-year-old former military man who previously met with reporters, showed them 90 seconds of a 43-minute tape and claimed that it had been legally obtained and that Biden was aware she was being filmed.” Most likely the story has turned out to be false. Sad that news agencies & many people will jump to conclusions without true facts.

Lost. The Lowdown: Everybody’s going to be talking about the ending of this episode until the airing of the next episode.

Details of Sayid’s relationship with Ben in between his two stints on the island, as well as other periods in Sayid’s life are explored in flashback. In the present – which is actually the past – Sayid is still the prisoner of the Dharma Initiative. Although Sawyer is looking for a way to free him without compromising his own position and that of the other Losties, Sayid doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to be let go.

However, Sayid is eventually freed by someone in the camp when the Dharma people decide to kill him. He then does something so unbelievable that it could change everything in the future. The Lowdown: Everybody’s going to be talking about the ending of this episode until the airing of the next episode. It turned a fairly pedestrian installment into what’s sure to be one of the bigger-debated topics of the season.

Amanda Terkel. Virtually everything good in our nation (abolition of slavery movement, women’s suffrage, civil rights movement,

We have to begin to change how we think about our country. We have to learn to understand what oligarchy means. I’ll save you the trouble of having to look up the definition – A government in which power is in the hands of a few. When you have lost your democracy then what do the citizens do? They must fight (non-violently) to take it back.

This of course means direct action and sometimes civil disobedience. Virtually everything good in our nation (abolition of slavery movement, women’s suffrage, civil rights movement, anti-war movements, etc) have come from people stepping up when they were needed. Calling for impeachment by the Congress becomes imperative today. Are you in or out? Step #5 Forget the “every man for himself” mythology. We are all brainwashed in this country to believe in the rugged individualism story.
